Saint-Gatien Cathedral
With its sculpted façade and two asymmetric towers, Saint-Gatien Cathedral is one of the finest examples of French Flamboyant Gothic. Inside, 13th-century stained glass bathes the nave in astonishing coloured light. Just next door, the discreet, peaceful Psalette cloister is ideal for lingering a few minutes together, away from the bustle, letting the conversation settle.
The Prébendes and Franciscans gardens
In the centre, the Prébendes d’Oé Garden unfolds its curving paths, flower beds and small bandstand. People come to read in the sun, listen to a summer concert, let the children play and above all… take their time. For a first date after a city-centre coffee, it is a gentle, elegant setting that invites you to linger on a bench or simply walk side by side.
The Loire banks and the guinguette
As soon as the sun peeks out, locals head down to the quays between Wilson Bridge and Simon Island. In summer, Tours sur Loire sets up its guinguette: deckchairs, live music, food trucks, glasses of chilled white wine. On Lyad, members from Tours share their favourite evenings; it is up to you to find someone to watch the sun set over the royal river with.
